Etching is the process of removing surface material, which will show the base material. Laser Etching vaporizes material from the surface of a part; this process is done mostly on coated parts such as anodized aluminum, powder coating and painted parts. A good example of the laser etching process would be laser etching anodized aluminum; removing the anodic layer from the base aluminum.
